And just like that, I have a blog. Why? Because I can and because my life has changed so much in the last 2 years I wanted to document it as it changes in the future.
So who am i? I’m just a girl (an older girl maybe) who loves the outdoors and so my husband and I moved to Cumbria just over 2 years ago. This is where we want to be when we retire, god knows when, but rather than wait we thought we’d do the move and get embedded into a more rural life so that we’re ready.
We have a smaller house than before, a decent sized wrap around garden and a fifth of an acre paddock off to one side. This is like a zillion percent bigger plot of land than we had at the old house. That was a new build when I purchased it in 2007 so it had the typical square garden footprint at the back and a small lawn at the front. Mum helped me design the back garden with 3 rowan trees, which grew to about 12″ tall over the 16 years I lived there, some green bush things in between and then some nice structural non floral plants around the border. She came and tended to the garden as I wasn’t clued up or even interested, as really I didn’t want to be in Leeds, so I couldn’t be more removed from gardening if I tried.
Once we moved here I’ve learnt more about gardening than I ever could’ve imagined, and I’m still only at the cusp of what I will have to learn to keep things looking pretty, tended to and to design what it is that we want it to look like.
I’ve got a ride on mower, which I adore and won’t let my hubby near cos I’m such a tomboy, but we’ve both got our outdoor responsibilities that we enjoy. More on all of this as the blog develops.
We also have a house that needs some remodeling and the major part of this will commence in June this year, fingers crossed, so wish us luck on that and updates will come nearer the time.
And within all of this I have to go to work! Some of that involves travel to London and though I won’t be talking about my clients, I’ll probably chat about my travel challenges and fun.
So to summarise, this is me, my new but very wanted and exciting life near the lakes in Cumbria, and the challenges and fun it brings. See you soon!
